On 24 June 2026, the European Commission published a proposal for amendments to several EU tax directives (COM(2026) 560 final), with the aim of simplifying the EU direct tax framework and enhancing the EU's competitiveness. The proposal is expected to be discussed at the next meeting of the European Commission's Platform for Tax Good Governance. Comments on any aspect of the proposal are welcome, for example, on the proposed amendments to any of the directives concerned, the omnibus process as such, or changes to the EU tax architecture that may be missing in light of the general objectives identified by the Commission.
